Red maple or red maple (Acer rubrum) is widespread in North America and there is a deciduous tree up to almost 30 meters high. With us, however, the wood remains much smaller. Although this type of maple - which should not be confused with the red Japanese maple - has few requirements in terms of care, it needs certain prerequisites for vigorous growth and a healthy habit right from the time of planting.

Like almost all maples, the red maple also prefers a sunny to light semi-shady location, whereby the rule of thumb is: the sunnier the spot, the more intense the autumn color.
