Beech is one of the fast-growing hedge plants. In the first few years, growth is not quite as strong because the trees first have to get used to it. After that, however, they add quite a bit of height and width every year.

In the first 10 years, a beech tree grows about 30cm per year

The annual growth of a beech hedge

In the first few years, the beeches in the beech hedge have to do with getting used to the new location. Growth is slower during this period.

Up to the age of ten, the beech hedge increases in height and width by around 30 centimeters a year.

When beeches have reached flowering age at around 30 years old, they grow by 50 centimeters a year.

tips

If you simply let your beech hedge grow, it can easily grow to more than ten meters in height. It is therefore advisable to trim the hedge regularly at least once a year. It then branches better and forms a good privacy screen.
