When do you plant the Maiden's Eye?

If you have purchased a container plant, you can plant it outside in the garden all year round as long as there is no frost. But the ideal planting time for the Maideneye is in spring. Sowing can be started between March and April.

How does sowing work?

Sowing the girl's eye is not a challenge. We recommend growing this perennial at home:

  • Fill pots with seed compost
  • Cover seeds 0.5 cm thick with soil
  • keep moist
  • put in a bright place
  • fast germination at 15 to 18 °C
  • average germination time: 4 to 6 weeks
  • after germination keep it a little cooler (e.g. on the balcony)
  • Plant out from mid-May

Which locations are suitable for this perennial?

The girl's eye is hungry for the sun. It prefers to grow in warm, sunny locations. The blazing sun can also be an option for this perennial. It likes to be exposed to the sun for more than half of the day. Whether in a prairie garden, gravel garden, perennial border, along a path or on a slope - there are many suitable places for this plant.

In relation to the floor, the girl's eye is undemanding. The soil should be permeable, slightly loamy, nutritious and humic. It is best to enrich them with compost before planting.

When does pretty face bloom?

Lemon-yellow to sun-yellow, the Maidens-Eye blooms all summer long. Provided the old flowers are removed regularly so that new flower buds can form in their place. Normally the flowering period can then last from the beginning of June to the end of September.
