The Aukube is known for its leathery leaves, which depending on the variety can have fine markings. If you like a copy of your choice, you can try to multiply it. Read how it works below!
Aukuben can be propagated e.g. by cuttingsPropagation by cuttings: The simplest method
Propagation via cuttings has proven particularly effective. They should be cut in spring (February) or summer (August). Cut them to a length of 10 to 15 cm! Now the lower leaves are removed.
This is how it goes on:
- Fill the pot with potting soil
- Put one cutting per pot in the ground
- moisten the substrate
- put on a plastic bag
- place in a warm, shady place at 20 to 21 °C
- take root easily
- when a new shoot is visible, remove the plastic cap and water
Use sinkers to propagate
The best time to tackle the propagation of sinkers is in summer. How to proceed:
- dig a furrow in the ground
- choose a long shoot
- bend down to the bottom and place in the furrow
- Place a stone on the shoot about 15 cm from the tip of the shoot
- the tip of the shoot should point up and out of the ground
- keep soil moistured
After the new shoot of the poisonous Aukube is rooted, it can be cut off from the mother plant. He is now in a pot and should be overwintered frost-free. Next spring it can be put outside.
Choosing a location for the newcomers
Aukuben are usually kept as indoor plants because they are not very frost tolerant. In the apartment you should choose a bright place for this plant. The location should not be where the midday sun falls on the plants. They don't like direct sunlight.
tips
Furthermore, the Aukube can be multiplied by division and sowing. However, these methods are rarely implemented because they are less promising.
