Whether planted out in the garden or in planters on the balcony or patio, heathers are quite easy to cultivate. Provided the plants are in a suitable location.

Abundant flowering in a bright location
Both the winter heather and the common heather prefer a bright place, although this does not necessarily have to be in full sun. Basically, however, the rule of thumb is that the bloom is more lush the sunnier the location is. Planted in the shade, heather plants will hardly flower and will only grow a little.
Ideal floor conditions
Although heather grows on almost any soil, due to its natural origin it prefers a rather acidic, well-moistened substrate. A nutrient-rich and loose soil is ideal, because the heather does not tolerate waterlogging at all.
tips
Many garden soils are loamy and therefore too heavy for heather. However, they can be loosened and improved with sand and some peat or peat soil.
