Aloe vera blooms every spring when it reaches sexual maturity. The easy-care houseplant does not require any special conditions. However, a cool location in winter is conducive to flowering.

Aloe vera usually blooms in spring

Aloe vera probably comes from Africa and grows in many tropical and subtropical areas of the world. It loves the sun and, thanks to its ability to store water in its leaves, copes well with drought.

The flowers of aloe vera, also called desert lily, have lily-typical colors:

  • Red,
  • orange,
  • yellow.

The aloe blooms from about the third year of life. An upright, axillary inflorescence appears between March and May. A cool place (10-15° C) is ideal for wintering. Much less watering and no fertilizing during this time.

tips

On one inflorescence one can observe - from bottom to top - withered flowers, fully developed flowers and buds at the same time.
