Before adding the delicious dressing to the salad, the leaves must be carefully washed and then dried. If you do without it, the salad dressing will be watered down. In addition, this does not stick to the damp leaves, but collects at the bottom of the bowl. The result: the salad tastes weak and loses its crispness after just a few minutes.

Lettuce should drain well after washing

Dry the lettuce with a spin dryer

This is the easiest method to almost completely remove adhering moisture. As with a spin dryer, water and lettuce are reliably and gently separated from each other by centrifugal force:

  1. Place the sheets in the perforated inner tray.
  2. Turn the crank a few times.
  3. As a result, water rolls off and collects in the lower area of the salad spinner.

Dry lettuce without a salad spinner

You can also get the leaves dry without special kitchen helpers:

  1. Place the leaves on a clean tea towel.
  2. Gather the ends together.
  3. Spin the lettuce vigorously in circles.

However, this method is not recommended indoors, as the water dripping off would wet cupboards and walls.

Alternatively, it is also less sporty:

  1. Place the lettuce in a large-hole sieve and drain lightly.
  2. Then place a tea towel over the colander, hold it and turn it over.
  3. Now shake everything vigorously over the sink.
  4. The water collects in the towel and drips into the sink while the lettuce leaves lie dry on the towel.

tips

If you do not want to process the lettuce immediately, you can place the dried leaves on a piece of kitchen paper in an airtight container. If you put everything in the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator, the washed salad will stay fresh for two to three days.
