Plowing reduces weeds and deeply loosens the soil. As a result, the substrate heats up faster, which promotes soil life and the mineralization of organic matter. However, beginners face many question marks regarding technique and attitude.
With a plow, the garden soil can be optimally prepared for the seasonTechnique for beginners
If you start plowing from the left edge, turn the plow to the right. The last disc coulter runs exactly on the border. Place a working width on the bed and drive back in the resulting furrow without turning the implement. Work the field in lines, turning the plow attachment at the end of each pass.
Basic Settings
The plow is set on a flat field so that the right wheels run in the furrow. It must always be aligned parallel to the ground. This adjustment is made using the top link and cranks on the right-hand lift arm. The furrow depth is calculated from the working width:
- 20 to 22 centimeters plow depth with a working width of 30 centimeters
- 24 to 26 centimeters plow depth with a working width of 35 centimeters
- 28 to 30 centimeters plow depth with a working width of 40 centimeters
Training wheels are required to achieve an even depth. They are mainly used on tractors without control hydraulics. If a depth of less than ten centimeters is desired, the additional wheel is essential.
crowd
Experts refer to the underhand as a crowd. This allows the plow to go deeper. By shortening the top link, the undergrip increases. The plow stands on the blade tips and digs deeper into the ground. The furrow becomes shallower when the top link is lengthened.
side handle
The side handle secures the lateral infeed and is created by the point protruding laterally over the system. It allows the plow position to be shifted to the side so that the first furrow can be set narrower or wider. Side grip is important to create straight furrows.
tips
If the tractor struggles with the front wheels turned against a force that pulls it into the plowed field, the plow has not been adjusted correctly. The towing point is where the lines of the lower links, which are lengthened in memory, intersect.
