With the colorful blossoms of tulips, daffodils or ranunculus, you can bring spring into your home, even if winter is still gray outside. We will tell you how to properly care for the colorful home decoration so that you can enjoy the flowers for a long time.

tulips
Tulips are by far the most varied bulb flowers that you can get in many different colors, filled and unfilled. As early as January you can buy these heralds of spring almost everywhere. It's easy to tell how fresh a tulip is: run your fingers along the stem if it squeaks. In addition, tulips for the vase must not be fully bloomed.
When you get home, take care of the flowers as follows:
- Strip off any leaves that would stick out into the water. This prevents rot. In addition, the flowers use less water and stay beautiful for longer.
- Cut flowers fresh with a sharp knife even if this has already been done in the flower shop.
- Never use scissors to cut them off, as they will crush the stems and the tulips will wither quickly.
- Position the cutter at a slight angle. This incision increases the area with which the flowers can absorb water.
- Many tulips grow very quickly in a vase. Therefore, the container should be about two thirds as high as the flower stems.
- The flower vase must be absolutely clean. It is filled with a few centimeters of cold water that is as soft as possible. Do not fill the vase too full, as the stems will rot after a short time. It is better to top up with a little liquid every day.
- After a few days, freshly cut the stalks that have become mushy.
daffodils
Even with daffodils, the flower should not have fully opened. The heralds of spring secrete a slime that causes other flowers in the vase to wilt. Therefore, leave daffodils alone or keep the flowers in a separate vase for 24 hours. Only then arrange them in the container with the tulips and do not cut the heralds of spring again.
ranunculus
These colorful cut flowers can be bought from December. With good care, the large flowers can last up to two weeks indoors:
- Cut the stems fresh with a sharp knife.
- Fill a clean vase with cold, soft water, to which you can add a little preservative.
- Ranunculus are very thirsty, but don't like standing up to their necks in water. It is better to top up with a little liquid every other day.
- These heralds of spring react sensitively to direct heat and drafts. Therefore, place the flowers in a sheltered place.
