For many, enjoying the first warm days on the balcony and terrace is part of the beginning of spring. But with the rising temperatures, bees also come out of their winter quarters. Attracted by sweet treats, they become a nuisance at the coffee table.

Bees are useful but less popular around the garden table

Change bee plants

If you cultivate flowering plants in pots on the terrace, bees will find ideal sources of food. They are drawn to the supply of nectar and will happily buzz around the coffee table when in the vicinity. Therefore place the pots at a distance from the area where the flying pollinators are undesirable.

Plant repellent plants

A number of aromatic spice plants are avoided by bees. These include lemongrass, lavender and basil. Put the herbs in a pot and place several of them on the balcony or terrace. Planted containers on the windowsill prevent insects from straying into the apartment through open windows.

use scents

Bees dislike certain scents that are pleasant to humans. Since the aromas are quickly volatile, you have to renew the agents regularly. Wind and drafts reduce the deterrent effect outdoors, so you should spread several scented fabrics around the coffee table.

Bees don't like this at all:

  • coffee grounds: Divide into small bowls and place on the balcony table
  • cloves: grind finely and sprinkle over half a lemon
  • tea tree oil: vaporize in an aroma lamp
  • scented candles: let it burn with citrus aroma
  • incense sticks: help regardless of the fragrance used

Bug sprays and copper coins

Bees are protected and must not be killed or harmed. Therefore, bug sprays are not an option to repel the bugs. Since the chemical products often have a negative effect on human health, you can save yourself the purchase of such funds.

It is a myth that copper pennies drive away insects. Although the heavy metal is poisonous to humans and animals, laid out coins have no effect. Instead, be careful not to leave sugary foods and drinks out in the open.

tips

Did you know that tiny wild bees often roam between the flowers? There are a variety of species that thrive in the bee-friendly garden and are uninterested in humans.
