Weeding and loosening up the soil a bit: This work is a regular occurrence in ornamental and kitchen gardens. With the right equipment, these unpopular activities are easier to do. In the following article we present you:

Weeds can be burned selectively with a flame burner
  • sow tooth
  • hoe
  • pendulum hoe
  • Pickaxe
  • weed hoe
  • weedling
  • root cutter
  • weeder
  • joint knife
  • flaming device

and explain how the devices work.

sow tooth

This device has a single, arcuate tine, which is provided with a share. Depending on the application, the tool is available with a long handle and in a small version with a short handle. With the sow tooth, you loosen the soil without disturbing the layers of soil and can easily pick out weeds.

hoe

These are available in different versions with a rounded, trapezoidal, movable or double leaf, as well as in wide or very narrow versions. As a result, this garden tool can be well adapted to the respective purpose.

Below are some examples:

pendulum hoe

This device was forgotten for a long time. Due to growing environmental awareness, the pendulum hoe is experiencing a renaissance. The double-edged, movable steel blade of this hoe cuts weeds just below the top layer of soil. You do not have to remove the weeds, you can leave them as a mulch layer in the bed.

Pickaxe

This tool, which comes in a version with a long handle and handle, is good for weeding beds. The soil is loosened so that weeds can be easily picked out.

weed hoe

This features a sharp blade that is pulled through the ground. Weeds are cut off while at the same time the soil is loosened, but not disturbed. This tool allows you to work in a targeted manner and is therefore very well suited for weeding between plants that are close together.

weedling

This device is similar to the pendulum hoe. The weeder features a metal loop that is pulled through the ground. Here, the roots of the weeds are severed. Since the sling is fixed, you can work with the device without injuring neighboring plants.

root cutter

Weeds like the dandelion have long taproots that reach deep into the earth. You can use the root digger to dig into the ground next to the plant and lift it out of the ground.

weeder

With this, weeds with taproots that do not exceed a certain size can be easily removed. The gripping arms are positioned directly over the center of the plant. Thanks to the leverage of the device, the weed is pulled out of the ground completely and without any effort.

joint knife

With the joint knife you can mechanically scrape growths out of the cracks between the paving stones. This is relatively easy due to the shape of this tool.

flaming device

Weed burners are powered by electricity or gas. This means that weeds can also be removed from large, paved areas with relatively little effort. The weeds that have dried up due to the heat can then be swept away.

tips

If you want to prevent weed seeds from springing up again and again, you should cover the soil with a layer of mulch five to ten centimeters thick. You can use grass clippings, bark mulch, or compost mulch for this purpose.
