If your daffodils are in a pot on the balcony or elsewhere, you should get the bulbs out of the ground and store them. You can use the pot to plant other plants. When the leaves have dried up (6 weeks after flowering), the bulb can be dug up. It should be oversummered by September. Then it is put back into the ground. Important: The onion should not be planted until spring. It needs the cold in winter to sprout and bloom later.
Find the right storage location
But where can you store the onions? The storage location must be frost-free and should ideally be between 5 and 10 °C cool. It is also important that it is dry and protected from the sun and heat. A garage, a basement, an attic or a gazebo are ideal.
The bulbs can be placed in a wooden box, in sand, in a basket or in a net. It is ideal if they are exposed to good air circulation. This is the case, for example, when they are in a net and it has been hung.
