They are often bought as a nice little souvenir, the pretty ornamental forms of the daisy in a small flower pot. But they are more than that and can certainly be cultivated permanently in a pot and bring you joy.

Buy daisies in pots
You can buy many varieties of daisies, such as the filled "Roggli red", directly in the pot. Unfortunately, they don't last very long in a well-heated apartment, because they prefer it a little cooler. Temperatures around 18 °C are ideal. It is better to place your Bellis perennis in a cooler room or even on the balcony.
Often the pots of bought daisies are relatively small. This makes retail a great deal easier because less space is required. If you would like to continue cultivating the Bellis perennis in a pot, then repot the plants into a larger pot. Replace the used potting soil with new ones. You may also add some well-rotted compost.
Plant daisies in the pot
You can transplant daisies you have sown yourself or plants from the garden into the pot or window box. Transplanting is possible practically all year round. Since the nutrients in containers are always limited, you should support your daisies with a little fertilizer during flowering. It is best to give them a dose of compost when repotting.
Sow daisies in the pot
However, daisies do not like acidic soil. Scatter the seed on potting soil or a mixture of soil and sand. Cover the seeds or just lightly with soil, because the daisy is a light germinator.
Keep the seeds and later the seedlings moist. You can also cover the seed pot with clear film or a glass plate until the seeds germinate. This happens about two to three weeks after sowing.
Tips for planting in a pot:
- Do not choose a location that is too warm
- Possibly fertilize the plants
- Transplanting possible at practically any time
- Don't choose a pot that is too small
