Black-eyed Susanne is a child of the sun. In their native Africa it is warm and only moderately humid. You have to meet these site conditions if you want to enjoy a rich, long-lasting flowering of the edible climbing plant.

The right location
- Sunny
- Warm
- Airy but not drafty
- Moderately humid
- Space without waterlogging
If you cannot find a suitable place in the sun for the black-eyed Susanne, a half-shady place is also sufficient. In any case, it is cheaper than a location that is too cold and damp.
Black-eyed Susan develops the most flowers when it gets at least three hours of direct sun a day. A sunny south-facing balcony, a south-facing terrace or a warm garden wall are ideal locations for black-eyed Susans.
Location not too humid and not too dry
Plant the black-eyed Susanne in garden soil or potting soil that is as loose as possible. It is important that the irrigation water and rainwater can drain away.
Loosen up solid soil by mixing in some sand or mature compost.
However, the soil must not dry out completely. Water whenever the top layer of soil is dry.
place up
Black-eyed Suzanne is a vine that twines counterclockwise around anything it finds nearby.
Be sure to install a stable trellis on which Black-eyed Susanne can grow. Only then does it reach a final height of two meters.
If necessary, help the shoots to reach the trellis. Note that they rotate counter-clockwise.
tips and tricks
Black-eyed Susanne is not a houseplant. She needs light and air to thrive. Only in winter is the non-hardy climbing plant hibernated indoors.
