Did you know that the ash is one of the largest deciduous trees in Germany? Its growth is monopodial, i.e. it develops continuously upwards and neglects the formation of side shoots. Learn more interesting facts about the growth of the ash here.

Growth heights of different ash species
The following ash species are native to Europe:
- the common ash with a growth height of 40 m
- the narrow-leaved ash with a growth height of 20-30 m
- the Manna ash with a growth height of 6-15 m
Tough competition
The water content of the soil is crucial for the growth of the ash. The deciduous tree only thrives with sufficient supply. Furthermore, it can develop its growth better on its own, since the beech, as a neighbor, robs it of the necessary sunlight and many nutrients from the soil.
