The enchanting spherical maple comes from a plant family that is characterized, among other things, by rapid growth. Annual growth of up to 200 cm is not uncommon for various maple species. You can find out here whether an Acer platanoides globosum is one of these growth rockets.

The maple grows at least 15cm per year

Refinement depresses the pace of growth

Mother Nature did not intend a maple tree. The deciduous tree only acquires its shapely shape under the expert hands of competent breeders. The profile reveals that the popular house tree is a grafted form of the native Norway maple, which grows between 80 and 150 cm a year.

So that the compact spherical crown does not get out of joint, but is retained for many years, this maple variety was weaned from the floral rush of speed. An Acer platanoides globosum is limited to growth of 15 to 20 cm per year, rarely up to 40 cm.
