There are various reasons for wanting to pave a path without curbs. You may want to curve the path, or you may want to keep the cost of doing so low. Such a path is certainly possible, but not always sensible.

What are curbs for anyway?

Curbs serve to visually limit a path, but they also contribute to stability. For example, an edge limitation on paths made of gravel, grit (€46.95) or bark mulch prevents the material from getting into the adjacent beds. But even a paved path becomes more stable with curbs, especially if they are set in concrete.

What special features do I have to consider?

Without curbs, your path may lack stability. That's why you should definitely create a solid foundation. Otherwise your new path will probably not last very long. However, this only applies to paths that are not too heavily loaded. If loads are often transported in a wheelbarrow on a narrow path or if a car is even to drive there, do not forgo any possibility of stabilization.

Can I pave my path without curbs?

If you have decided on a path without curbs, you can fix it in a different way. Instead of the curbs, set the outer row of the chosen pavers in concrete. Alternatively, you can do this at the beginning of the paving work or as the last step.

In the second case, first lay the path completely without edges and then pick up the outer rows of stones on both sides of the path to set them in concrete. This may be a little complicated, but it gives good results. You can also correct the route during the paving work in this way.
