In order to set up a sandbox, you need to consider a few things. It is important that safety is ensured so that the little ones do not injure themselves and that fun is guaranteed. How to properly set up a sandbox.

A sandpit should stand on solid ground

Making sure you set up the sandbox correctly from the start will save you a lot of hassle and work later.

The right location

Choose a good location for the sandpit from the start. It should not be in direct sunlight so that the children can play in it undisturbed even in summer. If you don't have a suitable place, set up a sandbox with a roof or an awning.

An unfavorable place to set up the sandbox is near trees, because in spring many flower petals and in autumn leaves pollute the sand. You then have to clean the sand frequently. In addition, the roots of the tree can damage the structure.

Keep in mind that unless you've opted for a moving model, you can't easily move a sandpit around. In the best case, the sandbox can remain in place until the children have grown too big for it.

Provide good ground

Do not place the sandpit directly on the lawn. The grass grows through the sand so you have a lot of work to do with it.

The terrace is well suited as a substrate. If you choose a location where the sandbox is directly on the lawn or soil, place weed control fabric (€21.70) underneath. This not only keeps the weeds away, but also prevents ants from colonizing the sandbox.

Eliminate hazards for children

When assembling the sandpit, follow the assembly instructions exactly. Make sure all parts are securely bolted or mortised together. Countersink screws to prevent children from injuring themselves.

tips

You can also embed the sandpit directly into the ground. However, this requires some digging. In any case, put on a fleece or a wooden floor below.
