A creative beauty treatment lets dull or old flower boxes shine in a new guise. This guide comes up with 2 smart and inexpensive methods to beautify a balcony box. You can find out here how the transformation with a granite look and creative serviette technology works.

Not only flower boxes can be embellished with the serviette technique

Embellish flower boxes with serviette technique - short instructions

The list of materials is as short as it is inexpensive. In addition to the flower box (€16.99), you will need printed serviettes, wood glue or lacquer adhesive, scissors and a brush. This is how a boring balcony box becomes a jewel:

  • Cut the napkins to cover all or part of the box walls
  • Peel off the top layer and discard the rest of the napkin
  • Apply a thin layer of wood glue or lacquer adhesive to the flower box
  • Lay the serviette designs on top and smooth them out with your fingers

Fix the serviettes on the flower box with another layer of glue and let everything dry. Not only plastic containers can be embellished in this way. You can also use this method to transform a self-made wooden flower box into a decorative highlight on the balcony.

Balcony box in granite look - this is how you do it right

You can upgrade an everyday flower box to a planter with a natural stone look in no time at all. The only materials and accessories you need are the soft insulation shells for heating pipes, emery paper, scissors, weatherproof adhesive, fabric tape and granite effect spray from the hardware store. This is how the beautification campaign succeeds:

  • Sand the flower box all around to optimize the adhesion of the granite spray
  • Cut open the silvery insulation at the longitudinal seam
  • Coat the edge of the box with the weatherproof glue
  • Glue the insulation hose to it
  • Connect the two ends with silver fabric tape

Finally, place the window box in an airy place on a block of wood. Spray the vessel all over with the granite effect spray and let it dry. You will later only recognize the difference to a real natural stone flower box by the lower weight.

tips

If you have converted a disused gutter into a balcony box, the serviette technique is just right for beautifying the worn-out material. To ensure that the serviettes hold reliably in wind and weather, we recommend special napkin glue for the smooth surface. This is glue and paint in one.
