The calathea is rightly considered a squeamish houseplant. The Korbmarante reacts to poor care or a wrong location with leaf discolouration. Brown leaves usually indicate a too sunny location or too little watering.

Brown leaves or spots are almost always due to care or location errors

Avoid calathea brown leaves with good care

As a child of the rainforest, the calathea needs a lot of moisture. Although it does not tolerate waterlogging, it must never dry out completely. The root ball should always be slightly moist.

The humidity must be high enough. Set out bowls of water if necessary.

Avoid locations that are too sunny

Brown leaves can also result from sunburn. The Korbmarante does not get direct sunlight. Place them in partial shade or shade sunny flower windows.

tips

Even if the leaves of the calathea curl up, incorrect care is usually responsible for this. You should avoid substrate that is too dry, drafts or a location that is too sunny when keeping the Korbmarante.
