- Leaks on the walls
If the roof, side walls or floor of the garden house are leaking, this is extremely annoying. It is not only the comfort that suffers from the resulting musty smell. If you use the arbor as a storage room, garden tools and furniture can become damaged and unusable.

Tips for detecting leaks early and avoiding them
- Completely empty the summer house (€24.90), clean it and check for leaks once a year.
- A moisture barrier should be placed under the floor panel.
- When building, pay attention to weather-resistant coniferous wood.
Seal the roof
Roofing felt and bitumen shingles are relatively robust, but still weather over time. Then it is not absolutely necessary to replace the roof, you can also repair it yourself at low cost:
- Seal small areas of damage with bitumen compound.
- Treat larger areas or the entire roof with a special sealant.
- For very large roofs, you can alternatively lay bitumen sheeting and thus completely cover the defective roofing.
Seal the floor afterwards
If you forgot to lay foil under the concrete when pouring the floor slab, the base area will draw water from below. There are special floor sealing products against oppressive moisture in specialist shops, which are also used in basements. It is usually possible to seal the floor with these.
If it is not possible to seal the slab with an additional seal from above, the only option is to dismantle the garden shed again. Remove the old floor slab and build a new substructure.
Leaks on the walls
You can recognize these by discoloration or streaks that indicate mold growth or dripping water. Cracks in the walls are sealed with wood filler, both from the outside and from the inside.
tips
Repaint the garden shed at regular intervals. Take a close look at the arbor in advance and repair any damaged areas at the same time.
