Like all other types of schefflera, the finger aralia (bot. Schefflera elegantissima) is a poisonous houseplant. All parts of the quite decorative plant are poisonous. Contact with the skin can also trigger symptoms.

When working on the finger aralia, it is advisable to wear work gloves to avoid any skin contact. Consumption can lead to various gastrointestinal problems. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Loss of appetite and listlessness can also occur, as can skin and mucous membrane irritation.
For a household with small children, the easy-care finger aralie is not so well suited. It should definitely be placed out of their reach. The same applies if you have pets.
Symptoms of finger aralia poisoning:
- nausea
- Vomit
- diarrhea
- loss of appetite
- slackness
- Skin and mucous membrane irritation
tips
If, despite its toxicity, you have a fingered aralia in your home, then make sure that it is out of the reach of children and/or animals.
