The clivia cannot be divided directly, at least you should not take the root ball apart in order to then have two clivia. After flowering, however, it forms independent daughter plants that you can easily separate.

When can I separate the daughter plants?
Wait until the offshoot is at least 20 to 25 centimeters before dividing the mother and daughter plants. Then it begins to form its own roots. As a rule of thumb, the child should be about half the size of the mother plant.
If you want to cut this stuff off, then make sure you use a clean and sharp knife. You can also carefully break off the offshoot. You should also be careful not to injure the plant and offshoot.
How do I plant and care for the offshoot?
Put the daughter plant in a pot with commercial potting soil. To improve the soil's permeability, add a little sand if necessary. If you have separated several children, it is best to plant them individually. When repotting later, the delicate roots could be injured. The young plants remain in their pots until the roots grow out of the ground.
Root formation works best in moist but not wet substrate. If it starts to smell unpleasant, then the roots are probably rotting and a quick repotting is the order of the day. Therefore, always water your young clivia only when the substrate is a little dry and then not too much.
It can take two to three years before the first flowers. During this time treat the young clivia more and more like an adult plant. After a while, water plentifully in the summer months and only a little in the winter. Then the plant hibernates and should not be fertilized.
