The silk tree or sleeping tree is one of the ornamental plants in the garden or tub, some of which are poisonous. If children and pets are part of the family, you should refrain from caring for a silk acacia to be on the safe side.

Only the seeds and fruits of the sleep tree are poisonous

Only infructescence and seeds are poisonous

The silk tree itself contains no toxins. Only the infructescence and seeds that form from the flowers are poisonous and must not be eaten under any circumstances.

However, the danger is not that great, since a silk tree does not bloom in the first few years anyway.

Later, however, you should make sure that the flowers and infructescences do not get into the hands or reach of children or pets.

tips

There are many different varieties of silk trees. 'Summer Chocolate' is well-known and particularly popular for its striking purple-white flowers that turn chocolate brown at night.
