Of course you would like to enjoy your garden pond in the spring with the first warm rays of sunshine - and therefore often start construction early. This article explains why this can be problematic.

Wrinkle-free laying
Foils have to adapt perfectly to the bottom of the pond. This is the only way to ensure a long service life for the film.
However, PVC foils become brittle at lower temperatures and are difficult to lay. Films are therefore best laid when outside temperatures are high in summer. This has some advantages:
- the film becomes soft and adapts to the surface more easily
- the risk of tearing when laying is not so great
- the film is much easier and more accurate to lay
You don't have this problem with EPDM foils. They are still very flexible even at low temperatures and you hardly feel any restrictions.
tips
Use enough helpers to lay the film. This helps you to avoid damaging tensile loads on the film. When the liner is in place, fill the pond one-third full with water and leave it like that for a day. Put gravel on terraces. In this way, the film adapts perfectly to the surface.
