The linden tree originally comes from South Africa. It is considered decorative and easy to care for, which makes it very popular even with beginners who don't have a green thumb. If she suddenly loses her leaves, then there is great concern.

If the room linden loses leaves, this can have various causes

Why is my linden tree losing its leaves?

Both too much and too little water could be the cause of leaf loss in your lime tree. Or maybe the irrigation water was just too cold or the plant wasn't fertilized for a long time. Excessive sunlight or drafts can also have led to the loss of leaves.

The linden tree can also react in this way to a change of location, especially if the change was very extreme. This often happens with newly purchased Zimmerlinden. Maybe it's just an adjustment problem. However, it is also possible that the lime tree was in an unsuitable location and/or was not properly cared for.

Can I still save my room lime tree?

The sooner you react to the loss of leaves, the higher the chance of saving your linden tree. Therefore, check regularly whether the leaves of the linden tree are turning yellow or brown. Then you can react accordingly before the leaves fall.

If this has already happened, then take a look at the linden tree itself. Was it watered sufficiently or even too much? If the substrate has completely dried up and/or the plant has not been fertilized for a long time, do so immediately.

If the substrate is completely soaked, replace it completely if this is possible. Take this opportunity to remove all soft and rotten root parts. In the near future, water your lime tree very little. This plant does not like abrupt changes. If she gets a draft or is sunburned, you should still change her location.

The most common reasons for leaf loss in the room linden:

  • draft
  • water that is too cold
  • poured too much
  • poured too little
  • waterlogging
  • too much sun exposure

tips

The faster you react to excessive leaf loss, the greater the chance of saving your linden tree, ideally when the leaves change colour.
