How do I cut cuttings?
Clean your tool thoroughly before cutting offshoots and make sure they are sharp too. This is the only way to avoid the transmission of any plant diseases and bruising of the shoots to be cut.
Take the cuttings about 15 cm long. Completely remove leaves that are so close to the cut surface that they would stand in water or get stuck in the substrate.
Lots of large leaves on your cuttings also allow lots of water to evaporate. Cut off enough of some leaves so that the leaf area is only two-thirds of the original size. In this way you reduce the water requirement of the cuttings considerably.
Which shoots are best for propagation?
Strong, healthy flowering shoots are best suited for propagating the linden tree. These offer a good chance that the young plants will flower again. Green shoots, on the other hand, rarely bloom.
How do I care for cuttings and young plants?
The offshoots of a linden tree actually root without any problems in a glass with water or in cultivation substrate. However, they should be bright, but not in the blazing sun. Normal room temperature is sufficient.
