With their plentiful blossoms, triplet flowers or bougainvilleas provide southern flair on the terrace or in the conservatory. If you can't get enough of these non-toxic miracle flowers, simply propagate them yourself. This is almost always possible with top cuttings.

cut cuttings
To propagate a triplet from cuttings, cut off the tips of the shoots in early spring. These tips should be about 20 cm long. Choose a young shoot that you shorten with a sharp knife.
Remove the lower leaves and coat the cut with rooting powder.
Grow triplets from cuttings
- Prepare seed pots (16.68€).
- cut cuttings
- stick in the substrate
- cover with plastic hood
- keep very warm
- set up bright
- Keep cuttings moist
- Ventilate the hood daily
Prepare seed pots and insert the shoot pieces. Put clear plastic wrap over the cuttings to regulate humidity.
Put the cuttings in a warm and very bright place. Temperatures of 24 degrees are ideal. Make sure that the pots are not exposed to strong temperature fluctuations.
Air the foil daily to prevent the cuttings from moulding. Keep the soil evenly moist. After about two months, roots should have formed.
Properly care for the cuttings of the triplet
As soon as new leaves have developed, transfer the triplet flower to the planter. Normal potting soil is suitable as a substrate, which you can also mix yourself from garden soil and compost.
Then continue to care for the bougainvillea like adult plants.
Propagating triplet flowers from seed
Propagation via seeds is possible, but not suitable for beginners. It is already difficult to obtain germinable seeds. Seeds are occasionally offered online, but success is not guaranteed.
It is often not possible to get the seeds to germinate. Therefore, propagation via head cuttings makes more sense.
If you want to care for different types of triplet, you can get them in the garden store.
tips
The triplet has a large space requirement. It needs a new tub annually when thriving. When propagating, you should therefore consider whether you have enough space for several "miracle flowers".
