In order to put themselves in the limelight, the imposing monstera can do without floral klimbim - but not without a regular supply of nutrients. To ensure that the exotic window leaf presents itself from its most beautiful side all year round, fertilization plays a key role in care. When and how to do it right, read here.

In the summertime, the Monstera should be fertilized every two weeks

Fertilizing instructions for your windowsill

There is a wide range of fertilizers for indoor plants on the shelves in specialist shops. The following overview provides an overview of which products have proven to be suitable for window leaf and how they are administered:

fertilizer schedule April to August September to March
Liquid fertilizer for indoor plants Put in the irrigation water every 14 days administer every 4 to 6 weeks
Fertilizer sticks (€4.48) for green plants (e.g. from Compo) press into the substrate in April and July give in November or December
Osmocote exact with a long-term effect incorporate into the substrate in April
Liquid organic fertilizer (e.g. Bio-Best) 14 days in the irrigation water every 4 to 6 weeks

Please use fertilizers that are suitable for salt-sensitive exotic species and that take into account the desire for a slightly acidic pH value. Water before and after with soft rainwater so that the nutrients are absorbed without loss. For an older dainty window leaf, we would like to recommend the liquid organic fertilizer. If the Monstera deliciosa decides to produce flowers, you can safely consume the fruit.

Pause after repotting

On average, every 2 to 3 years, in early spring, Monstera are repotted in a larger pot with fresh soil. Since common substrates are pre-fertilized, please stop the nutrient supply afterwards. Experience has shown that stocks are used up within 6 weeks.

tips

Algae juice is an insider tip among Monstera gardeners for perfectly caring for the windowed ornamental leaves and at the same time providing them with nutrients. By regularly wiping the leaves with seaweed juice, they will acquire a soft shine as well as valuable nutrients, vitamins and minerals.
