Since there is such a large number of different types of indoor palms and many palm-like plants are also included, it is difficult to make a generally valid statement for all palms in terms of toxicity.

The best thing to do is to ask about toxicity when you buy your indoor palm. While the yucca palm is classified as slightly poisonous to poisonous, the fruits of the Chilean honey palm are even edible. Cycad is considered very poisonous and the fruits of the phoenix palm are inedible. Consumption is not dramatic, however, because the fruits are not poisonous.
The toxicity of different types of indoor palms:
- Yucca palm or yucca slightly toxic to animals but not to humans
- Chilean honey palm has edible fruits
- Fruits of the phoenix palm inedible, but not poisonous
- Cycad is very poisonous
