Potted roses can usually be overwintered outdoors without any problems - as long as they are of a correspondingly robust variety. Prerequisites are, of course, that the plants are in appropriately large containers and are also carefully packed. If you have the opportunity, you can also bring the flowers over the winter in a cool basement, in the stairwell or in the attic.

Basement should be light and airy
In order for this project to succeed, however, the basement room must not get too warm, because at temperatures above 10 °C the roses will simply sprout again. Temperatures between 0 and a maximum of 5 °C are optimal. In addition, the basement should be bright and have a way to ventilate. Remove the leaves during winter (preferably in the course of autumn pruning) so that the lack of winter light does not damage the plant.
tips
Don't forget to water the rose regularly! There is no fertilization and it is only started again from around the end of March. You can also put the rose outside again at this point.
