The pitcher plant is not only a very decorative plant in the house and garden because of its tube-like leaves. The flowers also have a very striking shape. They form in spring.

The structure of the pitcher plant flower
The flower of the pitcher plant is formed from several different petals:
- Three bracts
- five sepals
- five petals
- numerous stamens
- a stylus
It stands on a very long stalk that sprout together with the leaves in spring. The petals and sepals are usually reddish or yellowish in colour. The nodding appearance of the flower is also striking.
Pollination is done by bees, but you can also do it yourself. If fertilization is successful, a capsule fruit forms in which the seeds mature.
tips
The care of the pitcher plant is expensive, especially if you are not growing hardy varieties in the room. Make sure that the plants have to hibernate very cool but frost-free in winter.
