Because the subtropical amaryllis thrives as a bulb flower, it is at risk of rotting if exposed to excess moisture. Casting according to a fixed schedule is therefore not recommended. We will be happy to explain to you how you can supply your Ritterstern with water.

During the flowering period, the amaryllis is particularly thirsty

This is how you cast your knight star correctly

After planting, do not water the amaryllis at all, otherwise it will only sprout leaves. Only when the first buds appear do you start watering. That is how it goes:

  • Pour a little water into the saucer while the flower stem is budding
  • If the substrate surface feels damp, pour out the coaster again
  • Only water from below again when the soil has dried 1 to 2 cm deep

The degree of evaporation increases in proportion to the growth of flowers and leaves, so you water more often now. You continue this water supply until July in order to gradually reduce the watering quantity in this month. From August onwards, the Ritterstern does not receive any more water until the beginning of the next budding.
