Spring roses are quite easy to propagate yourself. There are two methods of propagation, the easiest of which is division of the perennials. How to multiply a lenten rose yourself.

Propagate spring roses by seed or by dividing
Lenten roses can be propagated by sowing or dividing. Sowing from self-collected seeds does not guarantee that you will get plants with the same flower color.
When the roots are divided, on the other hand, it is guaranteed that the new plants are identical to the mother plant.
Divide spring roses in spring
Dig up the perennial as deeply as possible in the spring. Keep in mind that the lenten rose develops very long roots.
Pierce the perennial with a sharp spade in the middle, leaving enough roots and leaf eyes on both parts.
Plant a part back to the previous location and look for a suitable place for the new perennial.
How to sow spring roses
- Collect seeds in spring
- Sow immediately outdoors or in pots
- just cover lightly with soil
- keep moist but not wet
- Protect seedlings from snow
The flowering period of the spring rose begins in February or March and lasts for several weeks. Once the flowers have dried, cut them off and gently shake out the seeds. It is sown on the spot or in prepared seed pots.
It takes a long time to germinate. The first plant tips can usually only be seen in November.
Sowing in pots is preferable. The pots with the seedlings must remain outside over winter. Since the plants are still too tender to withstand thick layers of snow, a covered location should be sought.
Where can you get single-variety seeds?
Lenten rose tends to self-seed. However, the seeds are not varietal, so the new plants can have a different color.
Lenten rose seeds are rarely available for purchase. Only nurseries specializing in natural gardens or exchange markets occasionally offer the seeds.
tips
If you want to prevent uncontrolled spread of spring roses, cut off the flowers as soon as they have faded.
