Brownelle is often grown in the garden as an ornamental plant or as a ground cover. Unfortunately, the pretty flowering plant has a bad habit of spreading into the lawn as well. Since it pervades the green area, it crowds out the grass plants. How to fight brownella in the lawn.

Measures to combat brownella
- Remove brownelle by hand
- Mow the lawn before flowering
- Scarify lawn in spring
- shade the lawn
- use chemical agents
Fight brownella mechanically
If you discover brownella in the lawn, you shouldn't hesitate, but rather rip the plant out as soon as possible. Check whether the pruner has already formed stolons above the ground and pull them out as well. Proceed carefully, because new plants can sprout even from small residues left in the soil.
Combat brownella with proper lawn care
The Accentor flowers from June to August. Mow the lawn before flowering and regularly afterwards to prevent seeds from forming.
Keep the lawn short. You should sow light spots immediately with new lawn seed so that the brownella is pushed out.
Scarify lawn in spring
Brownelle feels particularly at home on compacted surfaces. Thoroughly scarify the lawn in spring by working the area horizontally and vertically with the scarifier (€84.00). In doing so, you pull out the prunella and its runners.
shade the lawn
Like almost all wild herbs, the common herb needs a location with a lot of light. If the lawn is infested with brownella over a large area, cover it with opaque foil. Leave the foil for a few weeks.
The lawn also suffers from this treatment, but it recovers much more quickly than the brownella and other lawn weeds.
Use chemicals sparingly
With some wild herbs, only the use of chemical weed killers helps with all the negative consequences for nature.
You should refrain from doing this with Braunelle. The plant can be controlled quite easily, so that the use of chemical agents is usually not necessary.
tips
Accordion grows best on slightly calcareous soil. Regular liming of the lawn is therefore particularly good for the plant. You should therefore not whitewash the lawn after fighting brownella.
