Wild mallow sows itself in nature. It forms many seeds, which are spread everywhere via the wind and birds. If you want to grow wild mallows in the garden or in a bucket on the balcony, multiply them by sowing.

The wild mallow reliably sows itself

Thus, wild mallows are preferred

In order for the wild mallows to bloom early, prefer them indoors:

  • advance from February
  • fill small pots with potting soil
  • Put in the seed and cover lightly with soil
  • Set up bright but not too sunny
  • ideal germination temperature 18 to 22 degrees
  • keep moist

Sowing directly outdoors

You can also easily sow wild mallows outdoors. The plant absolutely hardy. It just takes a little longer for the first flowers to open.

Wild mallow can be sown in autumn and from March. Find a sunny location without waterlogging. Scatter the seeds 5 to 10 centimeters apart and lightly cover them.

Prick after emergence

Once the seedlings have developed more than three pairs of leaves, you need to separate them. To do this, carefully dig out any excess wild mallows so that there is a distance of about 50 centimeters between the remaining plants.

Plant the sprouted wild mallows in other beautiful places. They fit very well in the flower bed or perennial border. The only important thing is that they get enough sun.

If you want to take care of the wild mallows in the tub, put the plants in the tub. Because of the long taproots, the pot should be at least 60 centimeters deep and equipped with a drainage hole.

Where do you get seeds from?

The easiest way is to collect seeds from existing plants in the fall. To sow certain varieties, buy seeds from specialized specialist nurseries.

It is worth sowing several varieties, as they differ in color and size of the flowers.

tips

Wild mallows form long taproots. Don't wait too long to transplant the young seedlings to the desired location. When digging up older plants, the roots are damaged too much.
