Red beeches are characterized by fairly rapid growth. That's why they like to be grown in hedges and rarely as single trees. Growth can be limited by regular pruning.

A red beech can grow over 40 meters high

This is how high the growth of a red beech is

Beech trees grow between 40 and 50 centimeters in height every year. The crown also gets about 40 centimeters wider every year. Mature trees grow up to 40 meters, occasionally even up to 45 meters high.

Because of the expected size, beech trees should only be planted as single trees in very large gardens or parks.

Beech trees bear their first blossoms from the age of 20 to 30 years. It takes another 10 to 20 years for the fruit to develop.

tips

The roots of the red beech also stand out due to their fairly rapid growth. The lateral roots do not run very deep below the surface of the earth. Beech trees should therefore not be planted too close to buildings, roads or supply lines.
